April Collage: Gardening + Bikes + Yarnbombing
The brand new Ash Street Garden is having a fundraising bake sale TOMORROW, 4/3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Good thing they put this flyer up right near my house, because I plan on heading over. To get there you just go down 36th St. away from all of the shops, past Roosevelt Park, and down the hill until you almost reach the Light Rail tracks.
Visit http://www.ashstreetgarden.com/contact-us for a map or to see a nice photo series of the garden construction.
Looks like Saturday is going to be quite a gardening themed day. Participation Park is hosting their third Free School class from 2 - 4 p.m.
It's a good thing I finally got a rack on my bike so I can ride around town in the nice weather and not have to carry everything in a bag on my back. Thanks Baltimore Bicycle Works!
Spring is a great time to get a bike or make sure yours is in good repair. I went to Velocipede last night to simply adjust my seat position, and ended up getting a lesson in tightening my brakes and making sure my wheels are aligned.
Up next: getting new handlebars.
By the way, the bike I ride is a Terry. They are bikes specifically made to fit women.
Mine has a very petite frame and a 24" front wheel (your average wheel is around a 27" I believe, which is the size of my back wheel.) I got it from a friend at Velocipede. Major score.
You can see the size difference better here, although the wheel actually looks even tinier because of the angle:
To top it all off, I walked in to work this morning and one of the work-study students told me that she bought a copy of Yarnbombing online for a school project. She was very surprised and excited to see my work in there! Good times.
Then on my lunch break I walked outside and saw this. I wonder if this was her project?
A pretty good beginning to April so far.
