Can You Hear the Crickets?

Sorry about the silence, my dear few readers. I don't have too many excuses for why I dropped off, other than the fact that I've been catching up on reading some William Gibson and John Kennedy Toole. It hasn't all been reading and working a 9 to 5 though- my first zine ever is in the works, which I hope to have out by the end of August, and I am working on a project for the upcoming Yarnbombing book about knit graffiti. Plus trying to get in a few Bikram yoga workouts too. All in all, it was becoming a bit much!

So, after a bit of soul searching, I've decided to take a brief hiatus. We won't be completely dead though- I will of course post any sweet links I come across, plus I plan to write about the zine and knit graffiti piece once they are finished. It's just that I was starting to stress myself out with plans to write long articles on things like fermentation (how could I not, after reading this amazing article by Henry Hong on home-made cucumber kimchi.) I had grand plans to write all about local Korean markets, the benefits of fermentation, local produce... As you can see, my brain said, Enough!

Posting on this blog has been a wonderful way to organize some thoughts about DIY in the Baltimore community, and to make contacts with folks like this husband-and-wife team of Adam and Johanna, the DIY Fest organizers, and the aforementioned Yarnbombing. Please feel free to send emails to us at baltimorediy@gmail.com with any links, comments, articles, or otherwise. And for now... we will continue to create, collaborate, and craft on, and we know you'll do the same.
